Artful Times Challenge 22 Happy New Year

Happy New Year - Gung Hay Fat Choy

Decided to join in with this Challenge Site to make all sorts of craft items as my whim may take me.  Their challenges always seem such fun.  This one was for Chinese New Year, the year of the snake.

Von and Neet set fortnightly challenges - if you would like to see what is going on

So here is my take on an Asian Theme.

As there wasn't anything defined that I had to make I sifted through my stash and found some gorgous papers that are all oriental in style - choosing just one I then stared at it for inspiration then remembered I had some coin/tokens as well with writing on them - which I have no idea what they say and I hope they don't offend anyone.  I placed the coins on the paper and then thought of a little money envelope - of which I have a packet in my stash to use for scrapbook journaling!  I then wanted to find a piece of string or ribbon to tie around the envelope but in my ribbons box I found the gold tassel and my project was complete.  So simple so beautiful even if I say so myself!

Here's a close up photo of the coins - I wonder what they say?
I'm going to place some money in my little envelope and see if it brings me luck for the following year.

CSI Case File #57

Love you Girl

Colours - Bright Teal Green, Light Celadon Green, White, Ballet-Slipper Pink and Dark Lipstick Pink

So pleased these colours came up as I've now been able to scrap Lily's pictures from when she came out of her coma but whilst she was still in hospital. See my LO from #53 for the full story. This LO is a double page spread but I wanted to show both pages together as I have worked on them as mirror images using a Michele Singh Sketch No005 as inspiration.

To solve the case I used all the colours. For Evidence I used hearts, flowers, leaves & vines, birds (which I stamped in blue ink) a solid backgroud, die cuts, puches, stars and there is some woven paper on there too.

For the testimony I spoke to Lily about how she felt looking at these pictures and also used this to Journal from two different perspectives which you will see from the close up pictures - "I look normal, I'm usually critical of my photos because I don't like how my hands or feet look but here I look okay. A cute big baby." Lily 'that's what she said' 'and then she said' "You have always looked normal to me. It's you I see & not any deformaties - from the bonny baby to the beautiful girl & grown up woman you are today." Mum xx

This was the Sketch from Michele Singh that I used for inspiration and then mirrored it on the other page

it has a bird on it so it went well with the Case File too.

Aqua Marine Boy

A "Recipe" Challenge - Colours Aquamarine, Silver Sea, Black Ice

Inspired by the Recipe Challenge I found some "fishy" pictures of my son when he was younger.  He was really interested in Marine Biology and we visited many Aquariums and he decorated his room with Sea Creatures.

The Challenge

The Main Ingredients:- To complete the challenge I've used all the colours and kept any additional colours as small accents.

Measurements:- I've used the sketch as inspiration

Utensils:- I've used metallic elements and bling, there is also some white space which I didn't fill!

(My signature button is also there - although this wasn't part of the challenge)

Directions:- Hidden journalling behind the photos "Tris you were always an Aqua Marine Boy, visiting aquariums and learning all about Whales, Dolphins and Fish."

Here are some close up photos

Scrap Friends Colour Palette Challenge #9

Snow Baby

Another Yummy Scrap Challenge - here are the colours

This is on Scrap Friends - all about scrapbooking

This is what the challenge said - " a little bit of classic Xmas colours. Holidays are behind now but our memories are still with us, so if you want to share them with us this is the best time."

So I have scrapped Lily in her Snow Suit - the journaling reads
"In your all in one red snow suit.  You wore this down to the bus stop when we took Tris to the bus in the morning & met him in the evening from school.

I have used all the vibrant colours and stamped in silver ink.  The snowmen toppers were just right for this layout in all the right colours too!

I have also used one of Michele Singh's Sketches as inspiration

Color Throwdown Challenge.
Since Valentine's Day is right around the corner I thought a romantic color palette and inspiration photo for this week would be nice to create with.

As always, if you don’t have the exact colors, it’s no problem. Substitute with what you have that’s close to this week’s colors.
