Anything But A Card Challenge 13: Superstitions, Magic, the Number 13 etc

Sweet Chaos

This challenge calls for Anything But A Card - so here's my LO

Since it was their 13th Challenge they asked for superstitions, the number 13, magic, luck, bad luck etc

My LO mentions Good Luck

This LO is titled Sweet Chaos as it's my daughter Lily preparing to do welly throwing at a family & friends sports day.  My short journaling is where the Luck comes in as I've said "Good Luck Everybody.  Lily is welly throwing & we have no idea where it will go!"
There is also a Lucky 4 Leaf Clover on there.

I've used all these greens in the LO as the photos are really grassy green and it matches another challenge - Color Me Scrappy - Challenge #29 color combo and I've used the Sketch too by turning it on it's side

S.W.A.T. - Drill #1 - All ABout You

Sun Sea Sarah

Another new challenge blog - love finding them and try to join in as much as I can!

So Here Goes -

DRILL # 1 -All About You!

Flip that Camera Around,
This Drill is all About You!

Most scrappers find that one of the hardest subjects to scrap is themselves.  But here at SWAT we are all about motivating you to advance out of your comfort zone! So suit up, load your ATG, and take a shot at this drill all about you!

Now finding a picture of me is like finding Rocking Horse poo but find one I did from about 10 years ago which was taken on a holiday to Turkey.  I'm sat at the back of a boat on a wonderful day trip we had with lots of our new friends around the Bodrum coast line.  So I set about scrapping it.

I found a BG I thought would work and tried to envisage what I wanted the page to look like - the card stock worked at a jaunty angle and I found 3 flowers that looked like they just belonged there but what to do for a title or some more interest?  I grabbed some glue and glitter and without any plan or trial of placing things where I would expect them to go I made zig-zags and arrow heads and curls all over the place shook the glitter over and was really pleased with the result.

The chip board letters were also plain and boring white so off I went in search of my poster paints and decided to layer some different blues on them - the photo doesn't do them justice but I like how they look.  I found a sheet of sticky letters to add the Sarah and the year and Turkey on the side but to make them stand out added some more blue paint to the corner which has given the paper a really crisp texture which I like too.

I've added my signature button to the top of the page - if you are wondering why it is there!

Here are close up photos

I could go on about how the glitter reminds me of the glimmer of the sun on the sea but actually I remember more that I was quite relaxed just sitting there at the back of the boat not really caring what was going on around me - there were about 20 people on there!  So my LO is really about not caring about what is going on around me escaping and creating this LO just for me with glitter, glue and some dabs of paint.

About A Boy - February 15th Challenge

Little Boy Blue

Second Challenge from About A Boy and this time we had to create a LO using Baby Pictures - age group 0 - 12 months.

So here is Tris aged about 4-5 months
I know where we were when the picture was taken but can't remember exactly when!  We went to my Grandmothers and my mother was there too and we took the baby for a walk in the pushchair to the local lakes and he fell asleep.  I had my camera with me (in the days well before having camera phones!) and when he woke up he was still a bit sleepy so I took this picture.  It was a really warm spring day as you can see he has his slightly wonky hat on but he looks like a proper boy.

I made this into a really CAS baby boy LO with a silver teddy and some silver stars, the blue ribbon and the title with brads around it.  The BG paper has little blue stars all over it.

CSI Case File #59

Bridesmaids

Colours - Bright Red, Pale Pink, Grayish Green, Dark Charcoal Grey and Light Grey

I got the photos sorted for this colour scheme then got a bit stuck but once I found the BG with the red, pink and green it all came together. The framed journaling using velum on black paper gave me the charcoal so all the colours are there with the light grey ribbon.

The evidence of course are the frames, a bird, the cage (with love pouring out of it!), transparent velum and do I count the branch that the bird is on? For the testimony I've used a movie title 'Bridesmaids' to inspire my journaling which is about the three girls as bridesmaids and I also framed it.

Here are my close up photos

About A Boy - February 1st Challenge

Tris

Another new challenge blog.  This one is About A Boy - This was the introduction

February 1 Challenge~~Introducing

Hello everyone, we here at About a Boy (AAB) are so excited today, why you may ask?  Because it is our very first challenge here at AAB!  Since this IS our first challenge I would like to get to know the man/men in your life.  So I would like for you to create a layout of your choosing introducing your little man/men to us.  Please include his/their names somewhere on the page.  It can be in your title or your journaling.  That's the only criteria for this challenge, easy right?

So here's my LO

Tris doing what he is usually doing - playing on his phone!

This is him pretty much up to date - photo was taken in 2011 at Thorpe Park whilst we were stood in a queue and there are 3 photos the same because I made two mistakes when printing them out.  Firstly I didn't select the best print quality and secondly I didn't select the correct paper quality (makes quite a difference obviously) but when I put them on the table together they looked really effective so this was what formed the beginning of the LO for me.

The BG paper I used is Chloe's Closet Nantucket Sconset Stars with matching Coaster Buttons

I've included his name as the title - Tris (short for Tristram) - made up from mismatched letters in the My Minds Eye Range

There are also some little pins and a phone and an @ sign just for interest and my signature buttons are in each corner

Scrapfriends Sketch Challenge #10

Car Wins

Sketch Challenge Time

Here's the Sketch

A fabulous Sketch which I wanted to use pictures to tell a little story.  Here is my son Tris when he was about a year old having a fun time.  I took the photos obviously in sequence and I think my journaling words pretty much tell the story of what he was thinking.

It reads 'What shall I play with today - My Hat?

My Belt?  My Car?

Car Wins.  Faster Dad!

I added all the little elements to make it quite a fun LO - buttons, pegs, arrows, Elements Ribbon, tags and punched circles.
